Dental Implants at Portwall Dental Surgery
Dental implants are one of the most common and successful ways of replacing missing teeth, and if properly maintained will last for a considerable number of years - if not a lifetime.
Implants are made of titanium and are fitted into the bone where the tooth root would normally be. When fully integrated to the bone, a post (or abutment) is attached to the implant and a crown, bridge or denture is then placed over the abutment to replace the missing tooth or teeth. Thus, treatment normally involves two stages, however, in some situations it may be possible for temporary teeth to be attached to an implant at the time of fitting.
If you are considering dental implants please arrange an implant consultation with
Dr Gaenor Davison Bch D, BSc, FDS, RCS who will advise on your suitability.
The Association of Dental Implantology has produced a leaflet that provides lots of detailed information for patients who are considering dental implants. For further information please click to download.
