Laurence graduated from Cardiff Dental School in 2010 after which he undertook a further 2 years of postgraduate hospital training. This included a year working in an Oral and Maxillofacial unit, gaining experience in all areas of facial surgery and undertaking difficult dental extractions.
The other year was spent in Paediatrics and Adult Restorative Dentistry. Following this, Laurence has been working in general dental practice. In 2013 he passed his exams to become a Member of the Faculty of Dental Surgery at the Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Glasgow.
Laurence thoroughly enjoys all aspects of dental practice. He has a particular interest in cosmetic dentistry, root fillings (endodontics) and he is also a certified user of Enlighten whitening products.
Laurence has completed a Diploma in Conscious Sedation at Kings College London. He finds sedation such a rewarding area of dentistry, being able to help anxious patients through treatment they otherwise may not be able to cope with.
Outside of dentistry he enjoys CrossFit, surfing and spending time with his young family.

After completing a year in general practice, she decided to pursue a career in hospital dentistry, and has undertaken several hospital posts across South Wales and the South West. This has allowed her to gain experience and further her skills in all areas of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery and Oral Medicine.
Subsequently, she completed her specialist training in Oral Surgery at the Great Western Hospital in Swindon. During this time, she has won prizes at regional and national conferences for her work. She has a caring nature and a keen interest in the treatment of anxious patients. Having completed a Diploma in Dental Sedation at King’s College London, she is qualified to provide sedation for patients who are nervous about having treatment.

Currently, Ellie balances her clinical practice with a role as a part-time clinical lecturer at Bristol University, where she helps shape the next generation of dental professionals. Her teaching experience reflects her passion for education and her commitment to advancing the field of dentistry.

She is passionate about oral health awareness. Millie has also received specialised training in dental implant hygiene and maintenance, enabling her to provide thorough care and guidance to patients with implants.
Outside of work, Millie enjoys spending time with her family, taking long walks with her dogs, staying active at the gym, and paddle-boarding. Her expertise and commitment make her an invaluable addition to our team.

She is known for her gentle and caring approach, offering a range of treatments from routine scale and polish appointments to more complex, non-surgical periodontal care.
Outside work, Kirsty enjoys riding her horse, playing netball, and participating in triathlons. She also loves going on country walks with her family and dog. In addition, Kirsty volunteers as a Scout Leader for the 'Squirrels' section.

Sharron Derrick

Sharron qualified as a dental nurse in 1991. She joined Portwall in 2023, bringing with her immense experience.
Previously, she worked for the Community Dental Service as part of the Designed to Smile team that provided dental initiatives to children in schools throughout Cardiff and the Welsh valleys.
Outside work, Sharron enjoys spending time with her family, walking and mountain biking.
We are very proud of Sharron's sporting achievements - winning gold and silver medals in the World and European Canoe Polo Championships.

Before pursuing her career in dentistry, Zoe worked as a firefighter. She has also dedicated time to working at a leisure centre, supporting others in achieving their health, fitness, and wellness goals through personal training.
In her spare time, she enjoys the challenge of adventurous sports. Her downtime is spent with her family and pets.

Jayne Houlding
Reception
Jayne started her dental career as a nurse before switching to reception in 2001. She has worked with Alison and Gaenor for over 16 years. She possesses a lovely calm caring nature that patients really appreciate - as do the whole team.
Outside of work Jayne cares for her grandchildren, enjoys Zumba and is an active member of the Women's Institute.

Practice Manager
Kath joined the practice in 2025, bringing with her many years of managerial experience in the veterinary industry. She now enjoys the different challenges that a dental practice has to offer.
As Practice Manager, she oversees the organisation of the practice and supports the team.
Outside work, Kath enjoys being creative in the kitchen, reading, or tending to her garden. She has a passion for anything related to wildlife and animals.
